Selecting Your Courses for the Fall
Fall 2025 and Winter 2026 course offerings are now posted on WebAdvisor, so you can start planning your timetable! Course selection begins on Wednesday, July 9, or Thursday, July 10, or Friday, July 11, based on your program. If you were granted transfer credits upon admission, you may be able to select courses earlier depending on the number of credits granted. Please check the course selection windows for your exact date and time of course enrolment.
Course selection for Fall 2025 courses will continue until Friday, September 12, 2025; however, students are encouraged to select courses early because space may no longer be available in desired or required course sections. Course selection for Winter 2026 courses will continue until Friday, January 9, 2026.
You must pay your registration deposit in order to select courses. You can still pay your registration deposit after the June 15 deadline; however, you will not be able to select courses until your payment is received on your WebAdvisor account and your course selection window is open. First-year international students who have paid their $2000 deposit do not also need to pay the registration deposit.
Here’s how to select your courses:
Checklist for New Students & Parents
We're here to help students with academic policies and procedures – such as course enrolment and grades – and to provide services related to student records, including Confirmation of Enrolment/Attendance letters. The timeline below will guide new students (and their parents or guardians!) through academics, registration and records related procedures as they prepare for and complete their first semester at U of G.
Confirmation of Enrolment
Do you require confirmation that you are enrolled as a student for the release of educational funds (e.g., RESPs), a student line of credit, a parent’s/spouse’s health insurance plan or a parent’s/spouse’s workplace scholarship?
Many organizations and financial institutions will accept your semesterly statement provided on WebAdvisor as confirmation. To download the statement from WebAdvisor, go to Account View, select the semester and click on "View Statement" on the right.
If they require an official Confirmation of Enrolment/Attendance letter, complete the Confirmation of Enrolment/Attendance Order Form. There is a $15 fee for an official Confirmation of Enrolment/Attendance letter. The fee will be added to your WebAdvisor student account once your letter has been processed. You must be registered for courses (not just have "planned" them) before we can provide a letter.
Finances
Student Financial Services provides services and resources to support students in a wide range of financial matters, including billing, payments, financial literacy, financial counselling, and financial aid – scholarships, bursaries, and government loans.
The University has partnered with the Ministry of Colleges and Universities to support access to post-secondary education for domestic students, through the Student Access Guarantee. The principles of the guarantee include the following:
- a partnership with government aid programs and students
- giving students in financial need access to the resources they require for their tuition, books, and mandatory fees
Students who are experiencing financial challenges should apply for financial assistance by completing the University of Guelph's Financial Need Assessment form. We are proud of the innovative financial aid programs offered here; they are specifically designed to ensure an accessible education for students. These programs include scholarships, bursaries, travel grants, Work Study, and Undergraduate Research Assistantships. We encourage students to seek out these programs and apply. All students who wish to apply to U of G financial aid programs are expected to have a complete and error-free Canadian government assistance application on file from their home province or territory (e.g., OSAP, StudentAidBC, etc.). Students must also be in good standing with their Canadian provincial/territorial student aid program and have no government funding restrictions.
Consult this list of important dates and review the instructions for paying your tuition and fees. When you select your courses, you are considered registered and financially responsible for your student financial account. Please review the student statement of financial responsibility.

Need Help with WebAdvisor?
WebAdvisor is an online system where applicants, students, faculty, and staff can access important tools for the University of Guelph, the Ridgetown Campus, and the University of Guelph-Humber.
If it's your first time using it and you need some help, we've created some handy tutorials.
Interested in Part-Time Studies?
Students have the option of taking a reduced course load, with the exception of Co-op students. If you enroll in fewer than 2.00 credits, you will automatically be considered a part-time student. (Note: most courses are 0.50 credits each.)
Before deciding to go part-time, we recommend you do the following:
- Speak with your Academic Advisor to learn how part-time studies could potentially impact your future course selections and future plans, such as graduate or professional school.
- If you are receiving scholarships, bursaries, government aid (i.e., OSAP), or other funding, check with Finances about changes to eligibility.
- If you are an international student, visit the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada website and contact an International Student Advisor.
Message for Parents and Guardians
Staff and faculty of the University of Guelph are bound by provincial legislation that prevents them from discussing a student’s confidential information (including, but not limited to, information pertaining to scheduling, finances and academic achievement) with anyone other than the student. We understand the difficulties this may result in but ask that parents keep these restrictions in mind when assisting their children in navigating the various administrative processes. For the University of Guelph’s official policy statement with regard to student confidentiality, please view the "Policy on the Release of Student Information."
