Building your statistics foundation

The Diploma in Applied Statistics is a program offered by the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, which seeks to give students technical competency in the use and application of Statistics.

The program is intended mainly for those whose primary area of expertise is not in Statistics, but who feel the need to be able to use modern statistical techniques. This program seeks to fill a need for researchers to reach a useful level of competency in the use of statistical methodology.

The Diploma in Applied Statistics will be counted as equivalent to a Minor in Statistics for the purposes of application to graduate studies.

Admissions

Admission and application to the Diploma in Applied Statistics depends on your current status:

Apply using the University of Guelph Internal Transfers and Readmission pathway.

For specific questions about your individual situation, contact the Office of Registrarial Services.

You are encouraged to instead complete a Minor in Statistics.

Apply as a Non-Degree student. Information on how to apply as a Non-Degree student can be found on the Post-Degree Applicants page in the Office of Registrarial Services. This process may involve applying through the Ontario Universities' Application Centre as a Undergraduate (105) applicant.

Apply using the Post-Degree Applicant Honour's Equivalency pathway. This process may involve applying through the Ontario Universities' Application Centre as a Undergraduate (105) applicant.

Program

To complete the Diploma in Applied Statistics, candidates must complete 5.0 credits from the list published in the Undergraduate Calendar.
