B.Math Academic Advising

Student Accessibility Services (formerly the Centre for Students with Disabilities) is located in the J.T. Powell Building. They provide a wide variety of services for students to assist them in their educational endeavours. The Library Accessibility Services provides additional support, software and technology to read, write and research more effectively.

Due to COVID-19, Career Advising is now available remotely until the University returns to normal operations.

Steps for booking a Career Advising appointment

Login to Experience Guelph using your central ID and password.
Click on ‘Career’ on the left hand side, then ‘Appointments’, then ‘Book By Provider’.
Scroll down until you see Julia Leary with a yellow Book button underneath.
You can then indicate the type of appointment you would like to book and select a date/time that works for you.

Counselling Services can help you with a variety of different issues affecting your life (personal counselling). They offer group and individual counselling in a variety of areas including:

• bereavement
• eating disorders
• stress management
• academic support
• personal issues
• coming out

All information shared with Counselling Services is confidential and will not be shared with any member within or outside of the university community without written consent from you.

There is no fee associated with their services, except for missed appointments. See their website for details on how to get in touch with a counsellor.

Please also see your Academic Advisor if any circumstances arise that affect your academic performance. Your Academic Advisor can provide help with academic issues and can provide advice on appropriate courses of action.

The Indigenous Student Centre engages a community of people from a variety of First Nations, Métis and Inuit cultures, backgrounds and world views.

The Learning Commons provides countless services to help you improve your performance here at the University of Guelph.

The Mathematics and Statistics Learning Centre is a resource hub located in the Science Commons on the 3rd floor of the McLaughlin Library. Staffed by graduate and undergraduate Teaching Assistants, we provide free drop-in support for students looking for help in their introductory mathematics and statistics courses.

• Have you looked at our B.Sc. Academic Counselling Centre main page?
• Have you looked at your 'My Progress' in WebAdvisor?
• Have you looked at your Schedule of Studies in the Undergraduate Calendar? Was it the correct year? Use the archive to find older versions of calendars

• Did you bring a list of questions you would like to ask?
• Have you brought any notes from previous appointments?
• Have you thought about what courses you might take?

B.Math Academic Advisors are happy to provide advice about degree/major requirements and the associated rules and regulations. However, an elective is just that - an elective! Take what interests you. We will rarely be able to provide much insight into specific courses, especially those that are not Science. If you are considering applying for further education after your degree, some students find it helpful to consider any possible admission requirements when planning which courses to take as electives. For urgent situations, students are welcome to come to our office during our regular open office hours (M-F, 9:00 AM to Noon, 1:15 to 4:00 PM. *Note: On Tuesdays we typically open at 10:00 AM.) for assistance. Unfortunately, adding "Urgent" to the subject of an email message is unlikely to achieve a faster response.

The Dean's Honour List is based on your semester average. The recognition is noted for each semester on your official University of Guelph transcript. Criteria can be found in the Undergraduate Calendar.

Students in College of Biological Science majors please note that the college does not award any automatic scholarships to students who achieve the 80.0% minimum required for the Dean's Honour List.
