Volunteer Experience & Career Training (VECT)

VECT is a co-curricular program where University of Guelph students gain experience volunteering in the non-profit or public sector, contribute to community initiatives, and enhance their career readiness. Students volunteer with an organization for a minimum of 30 hours, over one or two semesters. These positions are either coordinated through VECT or independently arranged by students.

Through VECT, students receive training to prepare them for their volunteer experience, in addition to onboarding and training they receive in their placements. Students also receive coaching and support by our Career Education team to help them effectively reflect on and articulate their transferable skills, knowledge, and attitudes they have developed in their volunteer experiences on to their resumes, grad school applications, and in job interviews.

Students receive formal recognition for their VECT placement on their Professional Career Development Record (PCDR).

For more details, check out VECT info for students or VECT info for organizations.
