Adding Value to Your Team

The major in Environmental Management focuses on the development of leaders in the areas of environmental science and technology. The program combines a solid background in environmental science and management with business, using a mix of theoretical and applied study. In the Environmental Management program, students gain the knowledge they need to play a significant role in protecting the environment. The program combines the applied aspects of environmental science and technology with extensive business training focused on leadership in environmental maintenance, remediation and regulation.

University of Guelph Advantage

Students in this major are able to create a curriculum uniquely tailored to their career goal. The flexibility provided in semesters 6 through 8 permits students to develop their understanding of specific areas of environmental science and business or take a variety of areas within the discipline. This flexibility also allows students to participate in international exchanges and study abroad opportunities. Students have the opportunity to incorporate a variety of field trips, experiential learning in the workplace and independent research projects into their program.

Our co-op process responds to your needs. Employers can post, interview and hire throughout the semester and out students are available for 4, 8 or 12 month work terms. The Experience Guelph hiring tool makes hiring Guelph co-op students easy!

Student Strengths

Critical Thinking

Management and decision-making skills for the application of scientific knowledge and industry-related data to environmental problems, and the evaluation of appropriate environmental policies.

Communication

Excellent communication abilities developed through oral presentations and report writing

Knowledge

Strong background in science, economics, and business, mixing theoretical and applied study.
