The WEX Process

To receive WEX certification, students must complete and pass the WEX Experience Preparation and WEX Experience Employment Process courses sequentially, as the prerequisites for the Work Experience term. Undergraduate students must complete 4.00 credits before enrolling in the WEX Experience Preparation course. Students must meet the minimum academic requirements as listed by their degree program to participate in the WEX program. Students must abide by the Agreement for Student Involvement in WEX, reviewed during the Work Experience Preparation course.

For all students and programs, the WEX Prep course and WEX Employment Process course are not for credit.

Undergrad – the Work Experience Course will count as 0.5 credit.

Grad – the Work Experience Course will not count for credit.

The WEX Program Requirements provide recommended semesters in which a student does a work experience term. The recommended schedule allows students to have two opportunities to secure a Work Experience in the event they are not employed during the first employment process. The goal is to allow for some flexibility while ensuring the student completes the work experience requirements and academic requirements. Students must meet the minimum academic requirements as listed by their degree program to participate.

The WEX employment process is competitive, and while the EL Hub makes every effort to assist students in gaining employment, there is no guarantee that every student will become employed.

WEX Appeals

Students in a WEX-approved program have two separate appeal processes – one that deals with Academic Appeals associated with the Work Experience Report and one that deals with the WEX Preparation and WEX Employment Process courses and the Work Experience Appeals.
