WACE Global Challenge

The WACE Global Challenge is an experiential learning project that connects you to a team of students from around the world, studying in a variety of disciplines. Together you support an organization that is working to address one or more of the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Participants will work remotely, in teams, and act like a consultant for the organization, conducting research and providing recommendations to increase the organization’s positive social, environmental, and economic impact.

The Experiential Learning Hub pays for a small cohort of University of Guelph students to participate in the WACE Global Challenge, and also provides a small honorarium upon successful completion. Participants are required to commit about 40 hours to the Global Challenge over a four-week time frame.

How It Works

This 4-week virtual program sees you working in a multi-disciplinary cross-cultural student team across different time zones to solve a real industry challenge for an Industry Client—which could be a Start-up, NGO (Non-Government Organisation) or small-scale business.

What Will Participants Do?

  • Analyze their client’s purpose and alignment to one of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
  • Understand their client’s project and undertake research to identify possible solutions such as competitor analysis, identifying funding models, or implementing marketing tactics.
  • After conducting research, make recommendations for their client that might enhance their social or environmental impact.

Why Participate?

  • Global industry experience: Amazing experience to put on a resume and stand out when applying for graduate roles!
  • Enhance your skills: Enhance your cultural intelligence, communication, teams, and problem-solving skills.
  • Flexibility: 100% virtual project, work in a team in your own time.
  • Support: You will be supported by the Practera team, EL Hub, and WACE along the journey.
  • Network: Grow your professional and social network.
  • Honorarium: You will receive $250 upon completion.
