Winter Holiday Break

1. Clean up: Empty the garbage and discard any open/unwrapped food.
2. Fridge: Leave it plugged in. Take home perishables.
3. Sensitive items (plants, aquariums): Move them to a warmer spot (as we reduce heating over the break).
4. Computer: Back up essential data, unplug all devices including printer.
5. Windows & Lights: Close, latch windows, turn off lights, and lock the door.
6. Key Return: Follow instructions on your Check-out email. If you are returning in January, use Express Check-out.
7. Lost keys? You must still report to the desk to return any spares.

NOTE: Once checked out, you must leave the residence. No guests are allowed during this period. Staff will enter all rooms for security and fire safety checks. The University is not responsible for any loss or damage to belongings left behind.

We recognize that some of our students are not able to return home or make alternate accommodations during the campus closure period. If you think you might need to live on campus during the Holiday Break period, we ask you to indicate this need on your Residence Application.

In cases where you are not able to check out of residence within 24 hours of your last exam, or if you are not able to return home during the Holiday Break, you MAY be granted permission to remain in residence on campus.

• Extensions: If you plan to go home for the Holiday Break but need extra time to check out, you should apply for an extension on the Housing Portal.
• Holiday Stayovers: If you need to stay on campus over the holiday break or need access to your room for an extended period after residence closure, you should apply for a Holiday Stayover on the Housing Portal.
