  4. Go ENG Girl

Go ENG Girl provides an exciting opportunity for girls and gender-diverse students across Ontario to explore the world of engineering and discover opportunities in engineering-related fields.

Students will engage with Women in Engineering and Science (WiSE)- a student run club and Creative Encounters- a STEM camp for youth. They will take part in hands-on challenges and be guided through interactive games and activities that highlight the exciting possibilities within engineering.

Students in Grades 9 and 10 will enjoy new programming led by Guelph Engineering Leadership (GEL). Their afternoon will include an interactive lab tour featuring exciting spaces such as the robotics lab, the makerspace with 3D printers, and other hands-on engineering facilities. They’ll also participate in a specially designed “Leadership” session, adapted from the undergraduate program.

Go ENG Girl takes place each October and is part of the broader Go-Series of events designed to inspire and engage young girls in STEM. Be sure to check out other the other events throughout the year: Go CODE Girl (February) and Go PHYS Girl (November).

Why Attend This Event?

The University of Guelph has a long history with Go ENG Girl. Since 2005 Go ENG Girl has invited students to campuses with their parents to learn more about engineering through a series of fun hands-on activities and exhibits. Our Engineering professor Valerie Davidson, as the NSERC Chair for Women in Science and Engineering, helped found the Ontario Network of Women in Engineering (ONWiE), a network of 24 schools of engineering from across Ontario, and throughout Canada. Its purpose is to encourage young girls and gender diverse across the country to pursue careers in engineering. Go ENG Girl is an exciting opportunity for Grade 7-10 students across Ontario to learn more about the growing world of Engineering – thinking for the future.
