Orientation Volunteers (OVs) are U of G volunteers who embody the I am a Gryphon Commitments and make campus a welcoming community for new Gryphons.

2026 Orientation Week takes place from Friday, September 4 to Saturday, September 12, 2026.

Orientation Volunteer Roles

Academic Community Builders (ACBs)

  • Support community building within academic communities
  • Participate in academic focused events including Academic Orientation Day, Profs are People Too, Special Lecture Series, and events run by College Governments
  • Share your experiences as a student with new students

Major Events

  • Assist with logistics of large-scale events including set-up and take-down
  • Support event planners in creating an engaging and welcoming atmosphere
  • Connect with new students to facilitate relationship building

Truck Team

  • Deliver resources to all events across campus
  • Support with set-up and take-down of major events and move-in day
  • Note: Must have comfort carrying heavy objects and some members must have a valid G license

Wayfinding

  • Act as the first point of contact for students to navigate campus
  • Respond to inquiries from students, providing directions and answering questions
  • Share details about highlighted events
