The Black and Racialized Graduate Student Support Network (BRGSSN) provides essential support and resources to Black and racialized graduate and post-graduate students. The BRGSSN offers a series of facilitated discussions and engaging events that explore unique challenges, joys and achievements of graduate and post-graduate studies and beyond for these students. It serves as a dedicated space for connection and mutual peer support.

How to Participate

The BRGSSN is open to all Graduate students (domestic and international) attending the University of Guelph who identify as Black and/or racialized. RSVP to join discussions and events on GryphLife.ca!

Topics of discussion have included:

  • Culturally responsive supervision (mentorship and advising)
  • Navigating professional and personal expectations
  • Self-advocacy in academia
  • Leadership and scholarship opportunities at U of G and beyond
  • Black Success in graduate studies
  • Imposter syndrome
  • Finding a job in Canada
  • Career journeys of U of G Black and racialized faculty
