Co-op Stream

All Engineering majors at the University of Guelph are offered with co-op, allowing students to gain valuable paid work experience as part of their degree. Our program is direct entry, meaning you apply directly into your major of choice from the start.

Students are admitted directly to the co-op program. A regular stream is available, and students not interested in co-op may request a transfer once they begin their program.

Being a part of the mechanical engineering program here at Guelph has really inspired a new passion in me to explore the ins and outs of the mechanical engineering industry. At Guelph, the professors and TA's do a fantastic job at giving students a hands-on approach to their projects and schoolwork and there is such a collaborative culture present in the program that it makes for a great experience being a part of engineering at Guelph. The way I have been able to apply my coursework to my co-op placements has been extraordinary and I can't talk enough about how great of a decision it was to choose mechanical engineering at the University of Guelph.

My favourite courses so far are Design I and II because they let me be creative and work on projects with a team. During these courses something in my brain clicked...and I realized I actually understood the material and was enjoying it! Figuring it all out with a team of engineering students was a rewarding challenge and a fun way to showcase my creativity. Through my co-op experiences and coursework, I've realized that I want to work in the consulting engineering side of the food industry.
