In addition to the engineering field of study, students wishing to undertake graduate studies with an additional research emphasis can apply to a Collaborative Specialization: International Development Studies, One Health, or Regenerative Medicine. Students in Collaborative Specializations must complete program requirements for the Collaborative Specialization in addition to the requirements for the PhD.

Throughout my time as a PhD student in Engineering Systems and Computing at the University of Guelph, I have gained a variety of skills and experiences that will support my future career in academia or industry. I have worked on many interdisciplinary research projects, which have expanded my technical skills and refined my ability to convey complex ideas effectively. I have had the opportunity to mentor, supervise, and collaborate with a variety of undergraduate and graduate students in my lab. As a graduate teaching assistant, I taught several courses focused on theory and practical application. Lastly, I have had ample opportunity to network and share my research findings at conferences.

My journey in pursuing a PhD in Biological Engineering has been a very rewarding experience. The program has provided a strong foundation in bioprocess development and cutting-edge research, with the potential to apply innovative approaches to sustainable solutions. The collaborations and mentorship have been helpful in shaping my research and future career.

I chose the University of Guelph for my graduate studies in Environmental Engineering due to its renowned faculty and cutting-edge research opportunities. The collaborative and inclusive academic environment fostered my passion for sustainability and allowed me to engage in impactful projects.
