Meet Dr. Stacey Scott, Interim Dean

Message from the Dean
On July 1, 2025, the University of Guelph launched the College of Computational, Mathematical, and Physical Sciences (CCMPS). Dr. Stacey Scott has been appointed interim dean of CCMPS and brings strong academic and administrative experience to the role.
Scott joined the University of Guelph in 2016 after nearly a decade as a professor in Systems Design Engineering at the University of Waterloo. She completed her B.Sc. in Computing Science and Mathematics at Dalhousie prior to completing her PhD from the University of Calgary and postdoctoral studies at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
As a professor in the School of Computer Science, Scott has held several leadership positions, including associate director of graduate studies, assistant director of the School, and acting director of the Master of Cybersecurity and Threat Intelligence program. She is also the director of the Collaborative Systems Lab, where her research focuses on human-computer interaction, collaborative and social computing, and user-centred design of emerging technologies.
Scott played a pivotal role in shaping CCMPS, serving as Chair of the Ad Hoc Committee that led the college’s development and approval process. Her leadership continues to guide the college’s formation and strategic direction.
Scott is honoured and excited to serve as interim dean of the new CCMPS college.
