Evolutionary Biology
Evolution is both the foundation of modern biological understanding and an active area of research. Covering the entire history and diversity of life and the mechanisms that have produced it, evolutionary biology is a broad and exciting discipline that is studied from a wide range of perspectives. The breadth of the field is reflected in the diversity of research interests of the members of the Department of Integrative Biology, whose work encompasses all levels from molecules to entire biotas, and deals with vertebrates, invertebrates, plants, and protists.
Our faculty oversee the operation of several major facilities, such as the Advanced Analysis Centre Genomics Facility, the Centre for Biodiversity Genomics, and the University of Guelph Phytotron. The diverse expertise of our faculty combined with state-of-the-art resources make the Department of Integrative Biology an excellent place in which to study the patterns and processes that have generated the diversity of life on Earth.
