Hear From Crop Science Students & Alumni

After I graduate, I would like to look for a career in the agricultural industry that leads me to tropical or sub-tropical regions. My goal is to contribute to the prosperity of essential food crops and play a part in sustaining global food supplies. I am passionate about the importance of understanding the practices and knowledge required to grow our own food. I care so much about crop science and horticulture because I recognize how essential and often overlooked the agriculture industry can be,

I think the best part about studying the BSc in Agriculture program under the OAC is the people. Professors are very helpful, and the students help each other out. People always say the OAC is a family, and I agree. Upper-year students and OAC faculty steer you in the right direction, and if you are stuck, there's help all around you.

There are numerous events throughout the year that allow you to meet new people and develop your professional relationship network. I’ve also had the opportunity to meet many industry professionals during guest lectures that have inspired me and guided me on my career path.

I wasn’t from a farm, and knew very little about agriculture, but I was so interested in what I had learned in my electives and people I had met, that I decided to take the leap. Best decision I ever made! Just goes to show how important it is to diversify what you do in your university years.
